Ways To Save Energy

If your furnace or boiler is more than 15 years old, consider replacing it for a new energy efficient model.

A 15 year old furnace can operate at 65% efficiency, a new furnace is able to operate at 95% efficiency saving money and resources.

Unsealed ducts can waste energy heating and cooling unnecessary spaces. We provide duct evaluation and audits to correctly seal the duct and provide better airflow and efficiency

Other Ways to Save
  • Open blinds and drapes when the sun is out to take advantage of solar gain and close them at night to keep the heat in.
  • Choose the proper filter and change the filter regularly to keep the furnace running at its best.
  • Seal and weatherproof all windows and doors with caulking and weather-stripping.
  • Keeping a proper humidity level can help cut down on energy. This is because we feel warmer with a higher humidity allowing us to turn down the temperature of the room while still feeling comfortable.
  • Only use the washing machine/dryer/dishwasher with full loads to cut down on energy.

Theromstat

Adjusting your thermostat just 1° can save up to 2% on your energy bills.
Setting your thermostat back form 72 to 67 can save 10%.

Purchasing an Energy Star approved programmable thermostat can save 10% by setting a schedule and only heating and cooling your home while you are in it.

Insulation

Many homes do not have the proper insulation in their basements and attics.

20% of a home's heat loss occurs in the basement, consider installing rigid-board insulation to drastically cut-down on heat loss.

For the attic, consider using blow-in insulation to achieve an R value of 38 or more to keep heat out of unconditioned space.
